RANDOM INTERNATIONAL | BLUR MIRROR | 2016

Lead design / Project lead

‘Blur Mirror’ appears as a traditional looking glass, yet as a viewer approaches their reflection is blurred. Their surroundings remain in focus, yet they are continually censored even as they move in front of the glass.

The piece is an observation on censorship and ownership of image in the digital age, amid global extremes of data transparency and suppression.

The mirror surface is made up of 1000 individual squares each held by an individually controllable custom mount, which delivers highly tuned vibrational movement in order to blur the image reflected on its mirror’s surface.
